Diagnostic Assessment

This diagnostic assessment is designed to identify the learner’s current level of reading comprehension, including their ability to understand explicit and implicit meaning within a text. It assesses the learner’s capacity to infer, analyse, and clearly explain ideas using appropriate textual evidence. In addition, the assessment evaluates directed writing skills, with particular focus on awareness of audience, purpose, and format, as well as creative writing ability in terms of content development, structural control, and effective use of language. Finally, it diagnoses the learner’s overall language accuracy and control, including grammar, vocabulary, and sentence construction, in order to inform targeted teaching and support throughout the course.
