Summarized Geography notes

Theme 1: Population and Settlement
This theme studies where people live, why they live there, and how settlements grow. It includes population size and change, migration, settlement types, urbanisation, and access to services like schools and hospitals. Key idea: People settle where there are jobs, services, and good living conditions.

Theme 2: The Natural Environment
This theme studies natural landscapes and physical processes, including rivers, coasts, weather, climate, ecosystems, and natural hazards such as floods and droughts. Key idea: Natural processes shape the Earth and affect how people live and use the environment

Theme 3: Economic Development
This theme studies how countries develop economically, including types of jobs, use of resources, industry, tourism, trade, and the causes and impacts of development and inequality. Key idea: Economic activities help countries grow but can create both benefits and challenges.

Geographical Skills
IGCSE Geography Geographical Skills focus on map-reading and data-handling techniques. Students learn to interpret topographic maps (scale, contour lines, grid references), use and analyse graphs and charts, interpret photographs and satellite images, and describe patterns in data. They also develop fieldwork skills, including planning investigations, collecting primary data, presenting results and drawing conclusions.
